Build Roads to Opportunity
"The future of our business isn't just being formulated in our R & D facilities. It's being molded in programs like Shad Valley."
Paul Clark, Vice President, Technology, NOVA Chemicals Corporation
Invest in the promise of tomorrow -- today's high-potential high school students who want to make a difference when they enter the professional world. They might research cures, build companies, or lead nations, and we want to help them on their quest to achieve their goals. If you help us help these developing minds, we'll all benefit in the long term.
Shad reaches these students as they face one of the most crucial developmental phases of their lives. Within a year of attending Shad Valley, most will be choosing university career paths; guidance you give may have a fundamental impact on the directions they choose.
And the benefits aren't just abstract--Shad Valley attracts leading Grade 10, 11 and 12 students from across the country, and hones their skills even further. As they learn on our campuses and in summer internships, they evolve into a highly effective workforce--one you can benefit directly from.
In 2005, as part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, we prepared a booklet of 25 alumni profiles. Click here to read about some of our alumni's amazing accomplishments!
If you're interested in supporting Shad Valley, we'll work with you to develop an assistance plan that suits your organization. Your involvement enhances the Shad Valley experience.
In addition to your financial support, consider additional ways of providing your expertise to the Shad Valley program:
-
Offer summer internships that introduce Shad students to the real world of Canadian business
-
Speak at one of our campuses--lead a lecture, seminar, workshop or lab
-
Judge the innovative engineering and entrepreneurship projects developed on-campus in July
-
Invite a Shad Valley campus group inside your company for an exclusive look at your operation
Because we're a not-for-profit organization, we rely on the public sector and private support to create the experience and to make it affordable. The majority of our funds go directly to the costs of running the Shad Valley program: Program Cost 80%*; Administration 10%; Bursaries & Scholarships 10%.
*Program cost includes campus costs; student recruitment, screening and placement; and partner development.
The bottom line: your investment in Shad Valley is an investment in Canada's youth, in Canada's talent, and in Canada's future. The leaders and innovators of tomorrow are still in high school today, and you can help them hone their skills and become the best possible contributors to the new age that's upon us.
